Naples is the capital city of the Campania region and the Province of Naples. Its metropolitan area is the second most populated in Italy. It is located halfway between the volcano, Vesuvius and a separate volcanic area, the Campi Flegrei.
On a previous visit to Italy with my family, we went by train to Naples from Rome and continued on to Sorrento. We had heard that the food was excellent in Naples, and that certainly proved to be true. The best food, including the traditional Napoletano-style pizza and pasticceria (pastries), is to be found on little side streets and in the charming little food stands.
