Tosca - Puccini’s passionate thriller

In keeping with Puccini’s supreme ability to transform passion into beautiful music, Tosca is an edge-of-your seat thriller that has been beloved by audiences ever since it premiered in Rome in 1900.  The Portland Opera is staging this magnificent work from February 1st to the 9th.

You can hear a recording  of the haunting aria “E lucevan le stelle” (“And the stars shone”)  for yourself!

Also, you can listen to the introduction to the opera  by Portland Opera’s General Director Christopher Mattaliano, who says this about Puccini:   “He is well -loved for his soaring melodies, colorful orchestrations, razor-sharp dramatic instincts, and keen sense of theatrical pacing”.

We previously published an introduction article about Puccini if you want to learn more about the composer.  If you want to read more about Tosca and this production, please read my detailed article.

Ci vediamo all’opera,  Lina
