Love Italy, but live in California

This was a question that one of my best friends asked to me not too long ago. Why do you love Italy, but live in California?

It’s not a tricky question. Actually, I think of it as a very spontaneous question. I’m investing all my time and energy to promote the beauty of Italy, but I do live in California.  I’ll answer exactly the way I answered my friend:

The first spontaneous answer is based on a fact: I enjoy Italy more as tourist or as a business traveler. Italy has so many beautiful places to visit and things to discover that as resident you do not see or don’t value them every day.  I somehow see the bad things more clearly while traveling for fun or business. This means that as tourist I can visit more, discover more, appreciate more, and critique better.
My critiques are more reliable than many other tourists because I understand the habits and mentality of many Italian regions.

The second answer is related to my passion: I love Italy and I’m glad to invest my life in supporting the best manufacturers. Before moving to California, I had other options, but I found here in America the best methods and organization to distribute of niche products for Italian manufacturers.

The third reason is that I also love America, Americans, and my American family. So, the conclusion I can draw upon my answer is that I love both places, but I live in the one that is better organized, while I visit the one that is more charming and intriguing (Italy).

I have many things to share with you from my last trip to Italy that will illustrate my point.
I’ll post something soon for you.

Enjoy your day with a little break of Italian dolce vita!

Matteo
